Travis Scott’s recount of the tragic events that unfolded during his Astroworld concert in November 2021 has been revealed in a 1,266-page report from Houston Police. In an interview conducted at his home a few days after the concert, Travis told police that he had no knowledge of the emergency that was unfolding in the crowd.
According to Travis, the first time he became aware that something was wrong was when he was on a lifted platform above the stage and noticed someone near the stage receiving medical attention. However, prior to this point, Travis stated that he had seen lights in the crowd but was unable to discern what was happening. In an attempt to gauge the situation, he asked the audience to raise their middle fingers if they were fine, and the overwhelming response led him to believe that everything was under control.
Travis explained that he remained on the elevated platform for about two or three songs. During this time, he claimed to have been in a “trance,” fully immersed in his performance and the music. He maintained that there was no significant commotion or disturbance in the crowd. However, at one point, he noticed someone waving their hands at him near the stage, prompting him to urge the crowd to step back and allow medical attention to reach the area.
The report indicated that when Drake was performing, a security guard approached two members of Travis’ team and requested that they stop the show. However, their request was denied, with the explanation that Drake needed to complete his set. Travis clarified that he was informed during Drake’s performance that it would be the last song, but he was not told about the emergency situation.
After Drake finished his set, Travis received a message through his earpiece, informing him that he needed to wrap up the concert as things were getting hectic. Travis emphasized that there was no mention of the severity of the situation conveyed to him.
It was only when Travis returned to his trailer that he first learned of what had transpired during the concert. A friend informed him that a concert attendee was receiving CPR. Initially, Travis believed that only one person was in trouble, but he later discovered that two individuals required CPR, prompting him to question the gravity of the situation. It was not until he arrived home, around 2 or 3 AM, that he discovered the full extent of the tragedy, with 10 people losing their lives and dozens sustaining injuries at his concert.
During the interview with the police, Travis demonstrated genuine concern for the victims and their well-being. He repeatedly inquired about the status of those who had been hospitalized, indicating his deep remorse for the incident.
As a result of the Astroworld tragedy, Travis Scott is currently facing civil lawsuits, although he will not be subject to criminal charges. The 1,266-page report sheds light on Travis’ perspective, indicating that he was unaware of the unfolding emergency and maintaining that his actions during the concert were based on the information he received in real-time.
