Social trading platform Etoro has partnered with Twitter to enable users to buy and sell stocks and cryptocurrencies. The deal follows the introduction of Twitter’s $Cashtags feature, which provides real-time data on some funds and shares. Under the deal, users will have access to an expanded range of financial assets, with a new “view on Etoro” button allowing them to trade on the Etoro website. Twitter was acquired by entrepreneur Elon Musk in October 2022 for $44bn. Since then, Musk has sought to turn the microblogging platform into a “super app” offering financial and other services.
