During a village council meeting in Ukraine’s western Zakarpattia region on Friday (December 15), a local legislator brought grenades and triggered an explosion, resulting in one death and 24 injuries, according to the national police. The incident unfolded within the Keretsky Village Council building in Zakarpattia, as per Reuters. Initially, the police reported the deputy’s death, but later clarified that resuscitation efforts were underway.
“At 11.37 today, line 102 received a message that one of the deputies exploded grenades in the building of Keretsky Council of Mukachevo district during a session meeting,” stated the National Police on its Facebook page. The initial report indicated one fatality and 11 injuries, but later updates revised the count to 26 injuries, with six individuals in critical condition.
