Vigilante 4×4, a Texas-based Jeep restomod company, has recently unveiled its latest creation: a 1975 Cherokee S that features a stunning two-tone scheme of Brittany Blue with a Glacier White stripe. This Jeep underwent a meticulous restoration process starting with being stripped down to the bare metal and 3D scanned. This approach allowed Vigilante to design a custom chassis that incorporates modern upgrades while maintaining the classic look of the Cherokee.
One of the key features of this restomod build is the installation of a powerful 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 crate engine. This engine produces an impressive 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, which is the same amount of power found in Stellantis production vehicles like the Dodge Challenger. To accommodate this engine, the custom chassis had to be designed to handle its performance capabilities.
In addition to the high-performance engine, Vigilante equipped the Cherokee with a high-density aluminum radiator and a brushless electric fan for improved cooling. A powder-coated stainless steel fuel tank ensures durability and reliability. The custom exhaust system includes Mopar high-flow cast iron headers and Borla stainless steel mufflers for optimal sound and performance.
The 6-speed manual transmission and four-wheel-drive system work in harmony with Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear axles to deliver excellent off-road capabilities. To ensure effective stopping power, Baer 6-piston brake calipers and a modern hydraulic brake booster have been added. The Cherokee also benefits from newly added power steering, making maneuvering this classic vehicle much easier.
While Vigilante focuses on modernizing the performance and drivetrain of their restomods, they also pay attention to maintaining the 1970s feel of the original Jeep. The interior of the Cherokee features leather upholstery with a charming flower pattern, evoking the style of the era. To enhance comfort and convenience, a modern climate control system has been installed. Additionally, a six-speaker audio system with Bluetooth and HD radio capabilities has been seamlessly integrated into the stock AM/FM/CB radio, preserving the original aesthetic.
Vigilante 4×4 specializes in restoring Jeep models built between 1964 and 1991, including iconic pickups like the J-Series and Gladiator, as well as the Cherokee. The company offers a wide range of customization options, from wild 1,000-horsepower builds to more historically accurate restomods. Pricing for Vigilante builds starts at $295,000, reflecting the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into each project.
The 1975 Jeep Cherokee S restomod by Vigilante 4×4 is a testament to the company’s commitment to preserving the legacy of classic Jeep vehicles while enhancing their performance and modernizing their features. With its powerful engine, upgraded chassis, and carefully curated design elements, this Cherokee exemplifies the epitome of a modernized vintage Jeep. Whether roaring through rugged terrains or turning heads on city streets, this restomod build offers a thrilling and unique driving experience for enthusiasts who appreciate the timeless appeal of the Jeep brand.
