The hit comedy series Ted Lasso made its return for its third season last March, and AFC Richmond Greyhounds fans have been treated to plenty of action and drama on and off the field. While the show’s final episode aired on May 31 on Apple TV+, co-creator, executive producer, and Emmy-winning star Jason Sudeikis portrayed the main character, the optimistic coach Ted, whose mental state was put to the test as he faced ups and downs amid his return to England’s football scene.
Brendan Hunt, co-star and executive producer (who also plays Coach Beard), shared that the story of Ted’s separation from his son will be explored further, saying, “The more Henry grows up, the more [ex-wife] Michelle gets on with her life; it creates new complications in Ted’s heart.” Additionally, Brett Goldstein, who portrayed Greyhounds midfielder Roy Kent, revealed some cheeky storyline suggestions for season four in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Goldstein teased, “Season three ends with the death of some major characters. (…) Season four could be Ghost Lasso, where we carry on with Ted Lasso now haunting the locker rooms and trying to inspire the players from the other side.”
Despite the potential for season three to be the show’s last, there is still hope for more, with Channing Dungey, the new head of WBTV, leaving an open door for the show’s continuance if an opportunity arises. “I will say that season three ends in a way that feels very satisfying. So, if that ends up being the end, the audience will feel satisfied. But is there a door that’s potentially open if we could do more? Yes,” she confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
As fans eagerly awaited the season’s final episode, Ted Lasso has also expanded its merchandise line to include AFC Richmond jerseys, tees, home goods, games, and more in advance of season three’s launch. Fans can even play as the fictional team in EA Sports’ latest FIFA 23 video game.
To watch Ted Lasso’s series finale, viewers can subscribe to Apple TV+ for $7 per month, which unlocks access to other Apple original series such as the Emmy-nominated show, Severance, WeCrashed, The Morning Show, and more. New subscribers can watch Ted Lasso for free over Apple TV+’s seven-day trial period. Additionally, the streaming service is free for three months on eligible Apple device purchases.
In summary, Ted Lasso’s third season saw the beloved coach face new challenges and opportunities, and fans can look forward to watching the series’ finale on Apple TV+. Moreover, Ted Lasso’s merchandise line features clothing, home goods, and even an appearance in the latest FIFA 23, which fans can check out while waiting for the show’s possible continuation.
