YouTube Music has introduced a long-awaited feature that allows users to change the cover art of their playlists. While users still cannot upload their own images, they now have the option to create custom images using generative AI.
To access this feature, users need to tap on the pen icon in the bottom right corner of their playlist’s cover art. This will open up a menu where they can select the category they want their image to fall into, such as animals, food and drink, colors, nature, or travel.
Once the category is selected, users can choose to either hit “randomize” or select from several prompts. For example, users can choose to create an image of a pug “in the style of a Medieval Gothic painting.” The AI will generate five different images based on the selected prompt. Users can then choose their favorite image and save it as the playlist’s cover art.
It is important to note that this feature is currently only available to English language users in the United States. However, YouTube has stated that they plan to expand this feature to other regions and languages globally in the future.
Prior to this update, YouTube automatically created a cover art image by merging the artwork of the first four songs in a playlist into a grid-like format. While this feature helped capture the overall vibe of the playlist, it limited users’ ability to personalize their playlists with their own images. The introduction of AI-generated art gives users more options for customization.
In addition to the playlist cover art feature, YouTube Music has also announced other exciting updates to its music streaming service. One of these updates is the introduction of a “speed dial” feature. This feature will place users’ most listened-to content directly on the homepage, allowing them to quickly access their favorite songs and playlists. YouTube has mentioned that this feature will be rolled out in the coming months.
These new features aim to enhance the overall user experience on YouTube Music. By allowing users to customize their playlist cover art and providing easier access to favorite content, YouTube Music is striving to create a more personalized and convenient streaming experience for its users.
As YouTube continues to evolve its music streaming service, it is expected that more updates and features will be introduced to meet the ever-growing demands and preferences of music enthusiasts. Users can look forward to further advancements that enhance their ability to curate and enjoy their favorite music on the platform.
