Zero Motorcycles is often referred to as the “Tesla of motorcycles,” and the company has recently added two new models to its lineup, cementing its position as a leader in the electric motorcycle industry. The new models include the Model S street bike, which features an all-new motor, and two sport offerings, the DS and DSR models. Zero’s goal is to attract new riders by offering competitive pricing and enhanced performance, with the aim of expanding the market for electric motorcycles.
The Model S, also known as the Zero S, boasts significant improvements over its predecessor. It features a 14.4kWh battery, which is double the size of the previous S model, and is on par with the 2022 SR/F and SR/S models. With 97 pound-feet of torque, 68 horsepower, and a 3.3kW charging speed, the Model S can reach a top speed of 104mph, making it an appealing option for novice riders. The Model S offers a city range of 154 miles or a highway range of 101 miles when traveling at 70mph and starts at $14,995.
Zero is also expanding its DS lineup with the introduction of the 2024 DS and DSR models. The DS model offers 97 lb-ft of torque and 68 horsepower, with a city driving range of 144 miles and a highway riding range of 98 miles. It is priced at $15,995. The DSR, on the other hand, delivers 144 lb-ft of torque, 80 horsepower, and a top speed of 104mph. With a larger 15.6kWh battery pack, it offers a city range of 155 miles and a highway range of 100 miles. The DSR also features a reinforced chassis and Gates carbon belt drive for improved off-roading capabilities and starts at $19,995.
In addition to these new models, Zero has also announced that the 2024 SR and DSR models will be its first A2 license-compliant models in the EU. This means that riders with an A2 license will be able to legally operate these motorcycles in the European market. Furthermore, Zero dealers will now have the ability to upgrade to an A3 license, providing riders with the opportunity to evolve with their motorcycles, a unique concept that sets electric motorcycles apart from traditional ICE bikes.
Zero’s emphasis on innovation and accessibility has positioned the company as a trailblazer in the electric motorcycle industry. With its new lineup of models, including the Model S, DS, and DSR, Zero is poised to attract a wider audience of riders who are drawn to the performance, design, and sustainability of electric motorcycles. As the market for electric vehicles continues to grow, Zero is well-positioned to lead the way in this emerging industry, offering riders an exciting and sustainable alternative to traditional gas-powered motorcycles.
