The 2023 Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards and the Children’s & Family Creative Arts Emmy Awards have been confirmed by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards Luncheon is set to take place on December 16 at noon PT, and the Children’s & Family Creative Arts Emmy Awards Dinner will follow at 8 p.m. PT on the same day. The weekend will culminate on December 17 with the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards and Trustees’ Gala at 5 p.m. PT. All of these events will be held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
The weekend will kick off with a private luncheon to honor the 2023 Daytime and Children’s & Family inductees into the Gold & Silver Circle honor society on December 14. Notably, talk show host Maury Povich, who was previously announced as a Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Honoree, will receive his award at the ceremony on December 16.
The nominations for the Daytime Emmy Awards were announced in April, while the Children’s & Family Emmy nominations were revealed on November 2. President and CEO of NATAS, Adam Sharp, expressed his enthusiasm for honoring the diverse creators and entertainers that inspire and entertain audiences of all ages. He also highlighted the incredible impact of their work on viewers’ lives.
NATAS has recognized that many SAG-AFTRA members appearing on daytime dramas, talk shows, and other non-dramatic programs work under the guild’s Network Code agreement, which remains a non-struck contract. However, they acknowledged that some Children’s & Family Emmy-nominated programs remain struck. They salute the nominated performances of those SAG-AFTRA members and their work but acknowledge the violation of the guild’s strike rules for promoting or publicizing their nominations for struck work.
The Daytime Emmys and the Creative Arts and Lifestyle ceremony were initially postponed in May due to the Writers Guild of America strike. The Daytime Emmys were scheduled for June 16, while the Creative Arts and Lifestyle ceremony was set for June 17. The strike ended on September 27, but as of now, no new date has been set for the Daytime Emmys.
The Academy is looking forward to celebrating the creative achievements in television and multimedia content during the upcoming events. The 2023 Daytime and Children’s & Family Emmy Awards weekends are poised to be a celebration of talent and innovation in the industry. The weekends will bring together esteemed professionals and emerging talent to honor their contributions in captivating and engaging storytelling for audiences worldwide.
As the dates of these prestigious events draw near, anticipation is building among industry professionals, nominees, and fans. The awards ceremonies not only recognize excellence in television and multimedia content but also serve as a platform to showcase the diversity and creativity within the industry. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences remains committed to honoring the exceptional work of creators, writers, performers, and other talented individuals shaping the landscape of entertainment for viewers of all ages.
