Ford has officially introduced the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally, a rallycross-inspired version of the electric crossover SUV. The Rally model aims to venture off-road with a lifted suspension and added protection to safeguard its paint and motors from damage. Furthermore, it is expected to be the most powerful Mach-E variant to date.
The final tuning of the Mustang Mach-E Rally is still ongoing, but it is confirmed to have a dual-motor powertrain that delivers at least 480 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. This surpasses the figures of the Mach-E GT Performance Edition, which offers 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque. The Rally model will be equipped with the same 91-kWh battery pack found in other long-range Mach-Es and will feature standard all-wheel drive. The objective is to achieve an EPA-rated range of 250 miles. Additionally, the Rally model will retain the Mach-E’s maximum DC fast charging rate of 150 kW, allowing for a 10-80% charge in just 36 minutes.
Ford intends for the Mustang Mach-E Rally to be the fastest production version of the Mach-E to date. While the exact 0-60 mph acceleration time has not been released, it is worth noting that the GT Performance variant completes the sprint in 3.5 seconds. The Rally model is expected to be even quicker and offer improved sustained acceleration.
To enhance its off-road capability, the Rally model will introduce a new RallySport drive mode. This mode will provide more yaw and sideways action before the electronic stability control systems intervene. It will also offer a more linear throttle response and a new damping profile for the adaptive dampers. Additionally, the Rally model will feature large 15.0-inch front brake rotors from the Mach-E GT and GT Performance models, along with red-painted Brembo calipers. To protect the motors during off-road excursions, additional shielding will be installed.
In terms of appearance, the Mustang Mach-E Rally stands out from the rest of the Mach-E lineup. It features 19-inch white rally-style aluminum wheels as a tribute to Ford’s rally vehicle heritage. These wheels are wrapped in 235/55R19 Michelin CrossClimate2 all-weather tires with a taller sidewall, providing increased stability and grip on loose surfaces. The Rally model boasts a 0.7-inch lift over the Mach-E GT, thanks to new springs and larger tires. This lift allowed Ford to accommodate the larger tires without compromising performance or aesthetics.
The exterior design of the Mach-E Rally showcases twin racing stripes on the hood, LED fog lights integrated into the front grille, and a protective film applied to the door cladding and fender arches to prevent rock chips. Additionally, dealer-installed mud flaps will be available, and a black roof and Focus RS-like rear wing are standard features.
Inside the cabin, the Mach-E Rally features gloss white accents on the dashboard, lower steering wheel spokes, and the backs of the front seats. The performance seats also boast white contrast stitching and “Mach-E Rally” branding debossed into the seating surfaces.
As for technology and safety features, the Mach-E Rally will come standard with Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free driver-assist system, which includes a 90-day trial period for new owners.
The 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally is set to arrive in early 2024 with a starting price of around $65,000. With its increased power, off-road capabilities, and unique design elements, the Rally model aims to attract performance-oriented customers looking for an electric SUV that can deliver both on and off the pavement.
