Regarding her return as Captain Marvel in The Marvels, which is currently playing in theaters, Larson expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I’m back and I brought some friends this time.” In The Marvels, Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, joins forces with Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) to save the universe.
Larson also humorously shared insights into the challenges of playing a superhero, stating, “Being a superhero is like a weird, specific job. Who else is going to be like, ‘And make sure you have extra zippers so you can go to the bathroom.’ … It’s just like very strange things.” She also revealed the physical demands of the role, from learning new skills to spending a lot of time strapped into wires, resulting in what she jokingly called “an eternal wedgie.”
Additionally, Larson proudly welcomed newcomer Iman Vellani to The Marvels production, recounting the invaluable support she received when she first joined the superhero ensemble. She further revealed her special relationship with co-star Samuel L. Jackson, calling him her “bestie” and “soulmate,” and jokingly acknowledged that she is his second favorite co-star after Jackson declared himself as his own favorite.
Switching gears, Larson also spoke about Lessons in Chemistry, the series based on a novel by Bonnie Garmus that premiered on Apple TV+. Playing the character of Elizabeth Zott, Larson praised the rich character and shared her experience as a producer on the show, emphasizing the varied and challenging responsibilities of the role.
In a heartfelt statement, Larson expressed her happiness at finally being able to publicly acknowledge her appreciation for the cast and crew of Lessons in Chemistry.
In a surprise event, Larson visited a movie theater in New York City to celebrate The Marvels’ official opening, delighting fans with her unannounced appearance.
