Colman Domingo, a Hollywood actor, is receiving a prestigious TIFF Tribute Award as he brings two of his latest movies to the Toronto Film Festival. This recognition comes as Domingo is set to attend the festival for the international premieres of his films.
During the TIFF Tribute Awards gala on September 10, Domingo will be celebrated for his contributions to the film industry. One of the films being honored is “Rustin,” a Netflix production in which Domingo stars alongside director George C. Wolfe. The movie portrays the life of Bayard Rustin, a remarkable civil rights activist who organized the historic 1963 March on Washington, despite facing discrimination due to his sexuality.
Additionally, Domingo will also showcase his talent in Greg Kwedar’s film “Sing Sing.” This movie, set for a world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, follows a theater troupe comprised of formerly incarcerated individuals. The story highlights their journey of finding solace and freedom through the arts rehabilitation program established at Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
