In the early morning hours of August 31, 2023, three teenagers found themselves in a life-threatening situation after crashing a stolen vehicle. The incident took place in Polk County, Florida, and was reported to local authorities by an unlikely source – an Apple iPhone that belonged to one of the suspects. The crash occurred at approximately 2:35 am on Lake Hatchineha Road (County Road 542) near Firetower Road in Poinciana. PCSO deputies and rescue personnel arrived at the scene to find the three suspects crawling on the ground near a wrecked black Kia Sorrento. Thanks to the timely alert from the iPhone, emergency services were able to quickly locate the injured teenagers and render aid.
“The three suspects were out committing serious crimes, and it almost ended tragically for them,” stated Grady Judd, the Sheriff of Polk County. In light of their involvement in the theft and subsequent crash, Lyons and Gautier will face charges of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle (F3) and Conspiracy to Commit Grand Theft Motor Vehicle (F3). The female suspect, who had been picked up by the other two after the vehicle was stolen, will be charged with Trespass in Conveyance (M2).
