Framework, a company known for its modular approach to laptops, has announced the availability of its latest creation, the Framework Laptop 16, for preorder. This new gaming notebook is set to shake up the market with its unique features and upgradeability. Customers in the US, Canada, Germany, France, UK, Netherlands, Austria, Ireland, and Australia can now place their orders and get their hands on this innovative device.
The starting price for the DIY model of the Framework Laptop 16 is $1,399, excluding the operating system. For those who prefer a pre-built variant, prices start at $1,799. The machine comes equipped with either an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS or an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor, depending on the configuration. The DIY versions are priced at $1,399 and $1,699, respectively. Users can opt to use the integrated graphics of the processor or choose to upgrade to the Radeon RX 7700S discrete graphics by paying $1,799 or $2,099 for a ready-to-go model.
What sets the Framework Laptop 16 apart from other laptops on the market is its modular design. The company’s expansion bay system allows users to upgrade the notebook’s graphics and other hardware components over time without having to invest in an entirely new machine. Additionally, the top deck, which includes the keyboard and numpad, is also fully reconfigurable by the user. This level of customization and upgradability is a game-changer in the gaming laptop industry.
It’s worth noting that Framework has already proven its commitment to supporting its modular laptops with its previous model, the Laptop 13. The Laptop 13, which debuted in 2021, showcased the company’s dedication to creating a powerful yet customizable portable device.
In terms of specs, the Framework Laptop 16 boasts a 16-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. The display offers a high refresh rate of 165Hz and is equipped with FreeSync technology. With a brightness rating of 500 nits, a contrast ratio of 1500:1, and support for 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, the screen delivers stunning visuals. The laptop is powered by an 85Wh battery, which Framework claims will retain 80 percent capacity even after 1,000 charging cycles. If necessary, the battery is easily replaceable. The device also supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for fast and reliable connectivity. It features a 1080p webcam with dual microphones and hardware privacy switches, ensuring both convenience and security. Additionally, the laptop includes a fingerprint reader that is compatible with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
To manage the demand efficiently, Framework will follow a batch ordering system, with the first round of shipments expected in Q4 2023. As an added bonus, a limited supply of pre-orders that include an eligible AMD Radeon GPU will receive a free download code for the highly anticipated Starfield: Premium Edition game. CEO Nirav Patel has confirmed that the game codes will arrive before the game’s early access launch.
Enthusiasts can now place their preorders for the Framework Laptop 16 on the company’s official website. With its modular design, powerful performance, and the added benefit of upgradability, this gaming notebook promises to revolutionize the way users interact with their laptops and elevate the gaming experience to new heights.
